There were various reasons for this, most of them down to injury.Įstimated lap distance is 0.67km My Running Track- Edinburgh Scotland First Run - 11th of August 2021 Running Stats- 11th of August 2021 I had not been consistent in how many times I was out each week leading up to my 20km challenge. In my race month, I had to track my race stats. I had only been keeping track of the distance covered. The Month Of My 20km Challenge - August 2021īefore my race month, I had not been keeping running records. I have details of these runs noted in my weekly holistic personal development reports published here. I stayed running 8k for about three weeks.īut I dropped my run frequency down to three times per week after that.įor the months building up to my 20km run, I planned to keep to a regular and consistent pattern of running three times per week. It was a struggle as I built up the laps and distance.Īfter about a month and a half, I had worked up to running 13 laps – 8km. I ran six days a week, Monday to Saturday. I incremented the distance I ran by 2 laps after every six days. I decided to start small, running 5 laps around the 0.61km circuit.Īnd build on this distance after each week. I settled for a small 0.61km circuit around our flat.īecause I was running at 5 am, the plan was not to go too far from home. I then had a shower and prepared for my day ahead.įor the next couple of days, this was my routine. That first day I walked to a local park and did various exercises.Īfter those light exercises, I ran home, drank some water, did some static stretches and push-ups. My aim was to get use to waking up early. I started my running journey with a 5 am morning walk. I have always come back to meet my goals and for my found love for running. Injury has meant enforced time off running. I ran through pain, rain, cold winds and snow. Preparing for and completing my 20km challenge was physically and mentally hard. It is a tool I use to manage my lower back pain and build up my physical and mental stamina.

I am sure to challenge myself to run and hopefully complete a half marathon distance. With all my running challenges planned out for this year and beyond. I ended up running 20.29km – 0.61km short of my target. The plan was to run a half marathon - a 21km race distance after a six month prep period. A 20km running challenge was not my original plan.
